Half the world's remaining mountain gorillas live in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Trek through dense montane jungle with ranger guides to spend a permitted hour just metres from a gorilla family. Permit, park fees and porter included.
Transfer from your lodge for a 7:30 briefing with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, then allocation to a gorilla family.
Follow the rangers and trackers through the forest. Once you find the family you have one hour with them, keeping at least seven metres away.
Walk back to the trailhead to collect your trekking certificate and transfer to your lodge.
Yes, one gorilla trekking permit per person is included, along with park entry and one porter. Permits are limited and must be secured before the booking is confirmed.
Yes. Uganda Wildlife Authority only allows trekkers aged 15 and over.
Anything from one to six hours through steep, muddy forest, depending on where your gorilla family is that day. Good boots, long sleeves, gloves and a rain jacket make a real difference.
Groups are habituated and tracked daily, so sightings are very likely, but they are wild animals and it cannot be guaranteed.
